Susie went to the doctor for a regular checkup sometime in her third trimester (maybe late in the second I don’t really remember exactly when – I’m a man – we typically don’t remember…wait a minute…) So Susie went to the doctor for a routine checkup sometime in her 2nd or 3rd trimester. I opted not to go as I had been to a few checkups already and didn’t want to drive to SLC. So I stayed back to get some work done around the house or on my business.
Sometime that morning I get a phone call from Jode who was with Susie at the hospital: “Hey big daddy…how do you feel about a little girl?” She promptly handed the phone to Susie who proceeded to tell me what went down. The doctor had some extra time and offered Susie a free ultrasound just for fun. Well it was plain as day in this ultrasound – wait – let me give you a little background as to why this ultrasound was significant.
When Lily (or Lilly…maybe even Lillie) was a wee baby fetus – we thought she was a boy – we had gone to the Mall and paid for one of those 3D scans around 20 weeks. Looked like a boy in that first scan. The technician was 95% sure and told us to come back in 4-6 weeks for a free follow up scan. We came back. The second ultra sound looked like a boy again.
Fast forward to Susie’s call from the hospital – boy was I excited!! or girl was I excited!!
I was plenty happy when I knew we were going to have a boy but when I heard we were going to have a girl… This thrilling joy rushed over me and I just started smiling. Well I know why. Lilly is a little angel. I love her.
