So my wife a friend was trying to type an email message to someone but ran into an annoying little problem. She had copied and pasted the email address she wanted to send to into a new Mozilla Thunderbird email message. Well it came back as undeliverable because during copying/pasting she had grabbed a colon on the end of the email address like this jd@acme.com:
Since Thunderbird likes to save email addresses into the Address Book when you hit Send – Thunderbird saved it as jd@acme.com: (COLON!) Now every time she tries to send an email to that address the Autofill option automatically populates the address with the colon at the end of it. See I could keep describing this problem but I think you understand the issue (it’s happened to me plenty but somehow my tiger blood got me around the problem).
Well here is how to fix, clear, delete, edit that incorrect email address from your Thunderbird Address Book: (I wanted that last colon there but do I need another?):
1. Open Thunderbird
2. Click on on the ‘Tools’ menu at the top
3. Select ‘Address Book’ in the drop down (Ctrl + Shift + B)
4. The ‘Address Book’ window opens
5. In the top right corner there is a search filter – enter the email address you wish to find and press Enter
6. Now that you have found it – you can correct email address or simply delete it from the ‘Address Book’
7. WINNING!!!
